An honest question for those who were "born-in"

just wanted to ask a question of those who were born in as i was.. how did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - the truth"?.

did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?.

how did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the truth"?.

Q. #1. No! My first 4years in school I had very hateful teachers. They would go out of their way to ridicule me in front of the whole class. First two years the teacher would not even let me sit with the class. My desk was behind the teachers desk. A lot of physical and emotional abuse by those teachers. It made me hate school. Never did I feel privileged to be a cult member.

Q.#2. No! It made me feel weak and scared.

Q.#3. Because of what I went through I was hoping for the death of all those bad people.

Q.#4. As a very abused child I never thought about it. I was at the time 100% cult. I knew nothing else.

i have been sneakily looking at this forum, almost every day, ever since it began!

it has taken me till now to actually register and contribute.

(actually i did register with a different name in the beginning but never commented).. i am a pimo elder with a fairly long history of senior "positions" in the organization.

Welcome Pimojw from a former elder. I was a elder for 25 years and I truly understand what you are going through. I can only say it will take time for you to think things out. I remember the day I fully woke up. I was the P.O. and at that time I could only grin and bare it. So I made up my mind to do all the research I could and slowly work my way out of the mess I was in. The path you are on will take you in many directions it is up to you to pick what's right for you. It took a lot of courage on your part to come on this board and that is what it will take to get out of this cult. Take care of yourself and good luck to you and your wife. Still Totally ADD

Award Shows and Entertainment---Do You Want To Hear Political Views During A Show?

if i watch a ball game or an awards show or some other type of entertainment, i really don't care about politics.

i enjoy politics but there's a time and there is a place.. i think it's getting out of hand and it's getting pretty boring...but that's just my humble opinion..

Didn't any of you ever heard of the Smoother Brothers? Big on TV in the late 60's. Then President Nixson forced them off the air because he did not like what they was saying about him. All through history comedy has been used to expose bad things the rulers where doing. I did not watch the show or any reward shows for that matter but there is nothing new here. Still Totally ADD

The Golden rule (Matt 7:12) - Do JW's apply it?

there is no doubt (in my mind at least from my own personal experience) that in day to day matters most witnesses are genuinely loving and kind (or "nice") people (though their indoctrination and fundamentalist mentality often inhibits their natural kindness and tolerance and often gets in the way of fulling showing it).

however i would like to put the case that when it comes to their ministry and theological/scientific discussion of any type, they fail to apply even the most basic of bible principles that they claim to espouse - the golden rule!

here is what occurred to me.... some things jw's would like men to do to them:.

As a born-in I do not remember ever hearing any talks or studies on the Golden rule. When I would hear the words Golden rule by householders or my work mates I did not know what they was really talking about. Those words was very foreign to me. All I thought was everyone who was not a JW was going to die at Armageddon. Very sad that I could not make that connection. Golden rule is not something the Borg talks much about. Still Totally ADD

Former Elder insights on recent Child Abuse Cases & changes in the Org

this former elder, was briefly featured on pbs segment about child abuse among jehovah's witnesses.

in this youtube interview, he is asked about some of his experiences in the org from 1971 to the present.. at about 16:10 he starts telling his story about his involvement with trey bundy, and how he got to know jonathan kendrick, from the candace conti case.. for some reason, this video is starting 15 minutes in, and i can't get the link to start at zero.... you can always rewind ;-).

Same here left in 2010 and never been back nor will I ever go back. Even when my mom dies I will not go to the k.h. Still Totally ADD

last psychology session tomorrow

so tomorrow is my last appointment with my psychologist.

we are going to commemorate it by giving each other a letter.. sept 2016 i sat, a quivering wreck, in her waiting room.

i was terrified.

From one who did the same thing congratulations. The tools your psychotherapist gave you will serve you will for a life time. It has been ten years since I went to a therapist and I still use some of those tools given to me to cope with certain feelings. Remember knowledge is power and what the cult did to us in my mind is unforgivable. Wish you the best and enjoy your new freedom. Still Totally ADD

Freedom from Abuse

one of the most common ways in which people are psychologically traumatized whilst in a cult or religious high control group, is the extreme pressure to “forgive” people who have abused them.

i use the word “forgive” in quotes, because the concept often goes way beyond the biblical mandate.

Our daughter in law when she was 6 or 7 was abused by the p.o. of the Clearwater congregation. Years later when we meant her and got to know her she told us what happen she said after he was reinstated and out of jail her parents had him over for dinner and force her to forgive him. When we heard that I wanted to go to her parents house and let them have it. They finally got to know how we felt about that and how upset we was that this happen to their daughter. This always left a wedge between them and us. This is a example of how dangerous the cult really is. Guess what? That bastard son of a bitch several years later started his same old shit again. I have only told you about 1% of the story. Still Totally ADD

My brother who is 74 and is an elder told me a few years ago he and his wife expect to die in this system and they will have to wait for the resurrection. Still Totally ADD
